Random Post- Poem: Business As Usual Pt. 1-5
Business As Usual: Pt. 1
- Ambar Aneja
The handshakes are firm
The smile - calculated
It all starts with a vision
Grandiose and elevated
Sitting across the table
A conference room holier than thou
No sliver of ill-will
Just a discussion of how
The lawyers are invited
Adamant and ferocious
Arguing over the tiniest of discrepancies
Thank god for that
Pen is put to paper
The legalities put to bed
Hands are shook vigorously
The proof is in the masthead
Good Faith, Good Faith
It’s just Business As Usual

Business As Usual: Pt. 2
- Ambar Aneja
The wheels are set in motion
Hiring underway
The interview process is tiring
Yet rewarding in every way
Meetings upon meetings
Coming to a common page
Discussing our leanings
Courting each other away
Mutual benefit
The name of the game
Taking tough decisions
Even though it’s a shame
The merchandise sourced
The chinese can be trusted
Quality in quantity
The Minimums have to be adjusted
The stores are setup
Branding all done
The strategy starts working
The story has begun
Good Faith, Good Faith
It’s just Business As Usual

Business As Usual: Pt. 3
- Ambar Aneja
Many-a late night spent
Plotting the next course of action
A partnership here, an association there
The brand starts gaining traction
Everyday, a new challenge
Everyday, a new problem
Everyday, a new idea
Everyday, a new notion
The tide keeps building
The ship keeps yielding
People come, people go
The captain holds unending
Calls made, e-mails sent
Help is slow to come by
For every minute that is spent
The coffers keep on running dry
Good Faith, Good Faith
It’s just Business As Usual

Business As Usual: Pt. 4
- Ambar Aneja
The solutions come running
The tide starts to turn
The sales start churning
The venture is reborn
In the midst of all this happy lore
A small change catches the eye
The partner company changes hands
But we don’t bat an eye
The troubles start to spring-up
Everything becomes contended
The contract that was collecting dust
Suddenly becomes upended
The language changes
From casual to legalese
And the first line of every e-mail reads
“Without Prejudice”
Good Faith, Bad Faith
It’s just Business As Usual

Business As Usual: Pt. 5
- Ambar Aneja
There’s no more running
Just facing the truth
Money is the problem
Money is uncouth
Human greed is endless
It knows no ends and bounds
For once the lawyers are involved
Productivity isn’t found
There’s no honour or spirit
Or any sign of good faith
It’s all about the words
Transcribed on the emails
“Dear Mr. Hamburger” my last email says
You may have won the battle
But you won’t steal my crown
For the brand name might change
But the people make it sound
Our paths will separate
Our choices won’t be bound
This balance sheet might be red
But I won’t be unwound
Bad Faith, Bad Faith
It’s just Business As Usual.
Good Job Ambar! This is such a nice poem (I hope you think of this as a poem). Anyone can see your passion through this work and the words you chose
