World We Dare To Imagine: Part 3

The LAJ Foundation for Sports Advancement Changing the landscape of sports development in India by providing equal access to people regardless of their geographical or socioeconomic status. How many of you have played some sort of sports in your life? Most of you, right? Well, this sight might seem familiar to you. Just a regular sight But how about this? This is the state of sports in most parts of the world. Sports is not considered a viable career option for most kids pursuing it and is seen as being more of a hobby. What we intend to do is create a platform to enable people to take up sports and excel in their chosen sports through intensive programs taught by professional coaches. There is a lack of awareness about the sports industry in India. If a kid in one of the lesser known districts of India has the ability to run fast, there is no one to notice that skill and hone it. No one realizes the potential talent of 1.3 Billion people. In addition, mo...

World We Dare To Imagine: Changing the world through sports

Sports has been an integral part of my life. As a person of privilege, I never had to worry about buying the right sports equipment and being able to pay for my travel to wherever the match/practice was. However, among my peers were countless people who had to struggle for these basic things and yet, this did not stop them from pursuing their passion. Throughout high school, I learnt more outside the classroom than in it. Sports doesn't just teach you skills for the field, it teaches you life skills. Hardwork, teamwork, defying the odds, fighting till the last pitch, dealing with failure, leading a team. These are just some of the skills I learnt from sports and that too, at a very young age. My dream after graduation is to make sports available and affordable to every person in India and eventually, the world. The value that sports creates doesn't just stop at the individual level. In fact, sports  bolsters the economy as a whole.  Athletes are fitter, healthier and have h...

Random Post- Poem: Business As Usual Pt. 1-5

Business As Usual: Pt. 1 - Ambar Aneja The handshakes are firm The smile - calculated It all starts with a vision Grandiose and elevated Sitting across the table A conference room holier than thou No sliver of ill-will Just a discussion of how The lawyers are invited Adamant and ferocious Arguing over the tiniest of discrepancies Thank god for that Pen is put to paper The legalities put to bed Hands are shook vigorously The proof is in the masthead Good Faith, Good Faith It’s just Business As Usual ________________________________ Business As Usual: Pt. 2 - Ambar Aneja The wheels are set in motion Hiring underway The interview process is tiring Yet rewarding in every way Meetings upon meetings Coming to a common page Discussing our leanings Courting each other away Mutual benefit The name of the game Taking tough decisions Even though it’s a shame The merchandise sourced ...

Born on Third Base

Born on Third Base seems like an amazing book from however much I have been able to traverse through. It presents the entire situation about economic inequality in a way which I have never seen before. As someone who considers themselves to be part of the top 5% in the world, I definitely agree with a lot that Chuck Collins has to say about the issue. The part about privilege being hardwired into our psyche is as true as it can get. I am on the same boat. I will graduate through college without debt and have enough economic resources waiting for me to not have to worry about a roof over my head or food in my belly for the rest of my life. But I think this book makes me want to change the way I'll work for the rest of my life and focus on issues bigger than just myself.

Growth Hacking: A Short Guide By Ambar Aneja The first thing that comes to mind when one hears the term growth hacking is marketing. However, a growth hacker is not a marketer. In fact, a growth hacker is a person who's true goal is actually vested in their name, growth. There is a stark difference in approach between a traditional marketer and a growth hacker. This short guide will equip you with the basics of growth hacking and it's relevance in today's world. Traditional marketers are skilled at understanding traditional products. However, with the internet revolution, we are increasingly seeing a new class of software products. The biggest difference between physical products and software products is the ability of the software to spread itself. A hosting service will be able to give you a few extra hours of cloud computing if you get a friend to sign up. But a chair can't do that. In order to understand growth hacking, it is important to understand the inheren...

Clearing the Misconceptions Around Veganism: Final

Clearing The Misconceptions Around Veganism Why a plant-based diet is essential for health.       By Ambar Aneja What if I told you that everything we've been taught about health and diet is wrong? Let me begin with my own personal story, when I was a kid growing up in India, my daily breakfast was two eggs and almost half a gallon of milk. It was normal for me to consume animal protein and dairy on a daily basis. I was told that this was good  for me and would contribute to my growth in my teen years. In fact, even today, doctors still tell us to consume a diet consisting of enough 'protein', which all of us automatically presume to refer to meat and poultry. A plant-based diet is a diet based on foods derived from plants, including vegetables, whole grains, nuts, seeds, legumes and fruits, but with few or no animal products. In this article, I will be clearing the many misconceptions around a vegan diet and provide specific and important reasons for adopti...

Growing a Farmer: Post 2

As much as I liked the first half of the book, I dislike the second half of it. The author’s attention to detail is tremendous, but it can get very boring for someone who has no interest in the intricacies of slaughter or butchering. In addition, the details get very gory, which is off-putting and stops me from reading further. I think that the book represents the trajectory and transformation of the author in his life. While the beginning of the book is exciting and fast paced, the latter part of the book gets slow and agonizing. It displays the the author’s transition from living in a big city like Seattle to living on a farm on an island. Overall, I think that the book would be great for someone interested in farming, but for someone who has no interest, it can be a long read.
